Assessing accessibility of eGovernment services
Access for all to the Information Society is a key goal for the European Union. With increasing use of the World Wide Web – in particular for government information and services, it is essential to secure access for all citizens. Yet many people - especially those with a disability – meet barriers.
Page Evaluation and Benchmarking
Benchmarking can locate potential barriers and fuel the development towards Internet access for all.
eGovMon continues the work started by the European Internet Accessibility Observatory (EIAO) following up the large scale accessibility benchmarking service.
Furthermore an online evaluator, the eAccessibility Checker, is developed to support the testing and improvement of automatically testable accessibility issues in HTML and XHTML documents.
The eAccessibility Checker follows the Unified Web Evaluation Methodology 1.2 (UWEM) conforming to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 (WCAG1.0).
